Setting up your subscription on a Xiaomi TV Stick or Mi Box — step by step
The Mi TV Stick, Mi Box S and Xiaomi TV Box run Android TV or Google TV, so every Android app and the Downloader method work on them. The one difference that matters: storage and memory are limited, and this guide allows for that at every step.
Before you start
Server URL, username and password (Xtream Codes) or an M3U link — sent after payment. Paste them from our message instead of typing character by character.
15 Mbps for high definition and 30 Mbps for 4K, measured on the device itself. An Ethernet cable or 5GHz Wi-Fi gives the steadiest result.
Settings › Device › Storage — delete apps you do not use before installing; the Mi TV Stick has limited storage.
The steps
- Install from Google Play, or install Downloader
From the home screen open Google Play and search for a player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U, or install Downloader to install our official apps with the code.

Settings › Device Preferences › Security & Restrictions › Unknown sources › Downloader. On Google TV: Settings › Privacy › Security & Restrictions.
For Downloader only. - Enter the code and install
Open Downloader, type the code and press Go, then Install, then Open. Delete the downloaded file after installing to save space.
- Enter your subscription details
Choose Xtream Codes and enter the server URL, username and password exactly. The Google TV app on your phone provides a keyboard.
- Lighten the load and test
Close apps in the background, pin the app to the first row, and play two different channels. Start in HD, then raise it.
Also supported players
If you prefer a player from your device’s store instead of our official apps: install one of these players, send us the MAC it shows on first open, and we activate your subscription on it. These are third-party players; their availability depends on your device’s system and your country, and we do not own them nor does our plan include their licences.
The basic Mi TV Stick (without 4K)
The basic version shows up to Full HD; 4K quality needs the Mi TV Stick 4K or the Mi Box S. The same content works on both at the quality the device supports.
After the first channel plays
Start on automatic or HD and raise it to 4K once the connection proves steady at peak time.
Add the channels you actually watch to favourites so they are one press away, and hide categories you do not need.
Cinema mode for films and Standard for matches, and reduce motion smoothing if fast shots look unnatural.
Common problems on this device
Delete unused apps, clear the cache (Settings › Apps › the app › Clear cache), and delete old Downloader files.
Restart it by unplugging it, and keep one app open while watching. Avoid heavy apps running in the background.
Use the 5GHz band and move the device closer to the router. The Mi Box S supports a USB Ethernet adapter for steadier playback.
Enable “Unknown sources” for Downloader specifically under Security & Restrictions, then try again.
